Jon
Lay

is British and currently in London.

Despite the lack of a hipster beard, Jon is a craft beer aficionado and self-confessed foodie, who is always looking for his next noodle fix.

After several years of training as a lawyer, and working as a web designer at night and weekends, Jon finally managed to escape the shackles of the legal profession in 2009 when he founded the freelance design firm that eventually became Hanno.

Something of a jack-of-all-trades, he began freelancing when he was 16, designing and building minisites for clients. Having picked up backend skills in the years since, he slowly built up the team at Hanno, and now focuses mostly on supporting the rest of the team, typically on operational strategy, UX design and front-end development.

Jon loathes corporate inefficiency and bureaucracy and is determined to build Hanno as a flat, self-organising team that gets stuff done, in a way that’s nothing like the legal industry that he nearly found himself in.

Now based in London after 3 years in Asia, Jon loves to travel. He once spent 6 weeks dragging the team through the back-streets of Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur in search of obscure noodle dishes.
